MAJOR EARL GARDNER, GROUP 1 COMMANDER
 
Maj Gardner
Major Gardner served in the U.S. Air Force from 1990-2003, with active duty from 1990 to 1994. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) and worked in avionics and navigation. Today, Major Gardner is employed as an electrician. In CAP, he served as Squadron 602's Commander for four years, leading to the squadron being awarded the Quality Cadet Unit Award several times. His service record also includes working as the PAWG Assistant Director of Transportation.


Major Gardner has an extensive CAP training record, including Squadron Leadership School, Officer Basic Course, Training Leaders of Cadets, Unit Commander's Course and the Corporate Learning Course. He has also staffed numerous encampments, Training Leaders of Cadets, and Squadron Leadership School sessions. Major Gardner holds the Senior rating in Cadet Programs, as well as Technician ratings in Aerospace, Professional Development, and Safety. He has completed Level 3 of the Senior Member professional development curriculum. His list of awards includes a Region Commander's Commendation, several Wing Commander's Commendations, Achievement Medal, Chuck Yeager Award, Command Service Ribbon, Air Search and Rescue Medal, several Encampment Ribbons, Squadron Commander of the Year, and Senior Member of the Year.





MAJOR ADAM SPRINGMEYER, GROUP 1 VICE-COMMANDER
Maj Springmeyer
Major Springmeyer ("spring MY-er") is the Deputy Commander for Group 1. In addition to this duty, he serves as the Group 1 Standards and Evaluations Officer and Squadron Commander of Squadron 603. He serves as a skills evaluator for Check Pilot and Master Pilot Ratings having accumulated 3000+ hours of flight time. He began his CAP career as a Senior Member but was commissioned directly as a Captain once he attained his Certified Flight Instructor License.

Major Springmeyer has served over 12 years in CAP, and has attained Level III of the Senior Member Professional Development program. He holds the Master rating for Professional Development, Senior rating for Safety, and Technician ratings in each Administration, Aerospace, and Personnel. In addition, he holds a Meritorious Service Medal, two Commander's Commendations, an Achievement Award, the Yeager Award, Command Service Ribbon, the Disaster Relief Ribbon with Valor, Homeland Security Ribbon, and numerous Cadet Orientation Flight Awards. He is employed as a Captain with Republic Airlines and flies the ER-170/175 aircraft. Major Springmeyer is also a second-degree Black Belt in Tae-Kwon-Do.
